Digital Me as a Statement
Invited by Pawel Pokutycki at Royal Academy or Art, The Hague in 2019.
In 2019, I led face-filter making workshops for the School of Young Talent students at Royal Academy or Art, The Hague.
We started with a talk about what they’re thinking these days — as they are around 11-13 years old, school, parents, cosmetic makeup and phone use were the main concerns they were dealing with.
After the talk, they expressed their thoughts on their faces using SparkAR and Adobe Photoshop. From the anonymous mask to a crazy makeup mask, the kids made brilliant digital themselves.
It was quite surprising that AR technology became this accessible, as everyone picked up very fast. I was also very glad to see the children actively using new technology as their communication tool. (what a great generation!) Of course, lots of joy came along.
